Zhenjiang College, located in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, a renowned national historical and cultural city of China, is a public full-time regular institution of higher education. The origins of the college can be traced back to the Zhengze Girls' School, which was founded in Danyang in 1912 by Lü Fengzi, a renowned modern Chinese artist, calligraphist, arts educationist, and pioneer of vocational education.
In 1992, with the approval of the National Education Commission, Zhenjiang College of Education, Zhenjiang Vocational University, and Zhenjiang Branch of Jiangsu Radio and Television University were merged to establish Zhenjiang College. In the process of development, Jiangsu Labor Economics School, Jiangsu Danyang Normal School, and Jiangsu Zhenjiang Health School were merged into Zhenjiang College respectively in 2001, 2003, and 2013. Zhenjiang College has been rated as an excellent institution by the Ministry of Education in the Talent Cultivation Level Assessment Project for Higher Technical and Vocational Institutions and recognized as a high-level vocational college with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province.
The college currently has five campuses with the building area of 412,300 square meters: Changshan Headquarter Campus, Danyang Campus, Runzhou Campus, Xuefu Road Campus, and Nanxu Campus, covering a total land of 928.75 mu(about 153 acres). There are 697 faculty and staff members, including 520 full-time teachers, among whom are 28 professors and 226 associate professors. Furthermore, 1 teacher is honored to be expert with the privilege of the State Council Special Government Allowance and 1 teacher is entitled national technical expert. 2 teachers are honored with the title of Jiangsu provincial prestigious teacher, and over 100 teachers are candidates for provincial and municipal talents, including those for Jiangsu "333 High Level Talent Project" and Jiangsu "Blue Project" for institutions of higher education. Zhenjiang College has appointed 11 professional experts as provincial-level industry professors and 12 as school-level industry professors. The college is equipped with a relatively complete service system of information and digital network. In 2020, it was approved as a Smart Campus in Jiangsu Province.

The school's featured projects of campus culture construction have twice won the Award for Outstanding Achievements in University Cultural Construction granted by the Ministry of Education.
The college closely aligns with the regional economic and social development needs and persists in driving high-quality development through the construction of specialty clusters. It has formed a development matrix of four provincial high-level specialty clusters.
Intelligent Manufacturing Sector: Led by the Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation specialty cluster, it integrates majors such as New Energy Vehicle Technology and Internet of Things Application Technology to create a smart manufacturing sector, serving regional high-end equipment manufacturing, new-type power (new energy) and other industrial clusters.
Life Health Sector: Led by the Optometry Technology specialty cluster, it integrates Pharmacy, Nursing and other related majors to create a life health sector, serving regional life health and biopharmaceutical industrial clusters.
Digital Commerce Sector: Led by the Big Data and Financial Management specialty cluster, it integrates majors such as E-commerce and Modern Logistics to create a digital commerce sector, serving regional digital economy and cross-border e-commerce industrial clusters.
Cultural Creativity Sector: Led by the Tourism Management specialty cluster, it integrates Modern Secretarial Studies, Digital Media Design and other related majors to create a cultural creativity sector, serving regional cultural tourism and modern media industrial clusters.
Over the past five years, Zhenjiang College has taken the lead in establishing Zhenjiang Ophthalmology and Optometry Industry-Education Alliance of Jiangsu Province and Jiangsu Institute of Ophthalmology and Optometry Modern Industry. It has jointly built industry-education integration communities with enterprises in intellectual property services, cross-border e-commerce, and other fields. The college has also launched the Jiangsu Provincial Vocational Demonstration Virtual Simulation Training Base Construction Project. Currently, it has four provincial high-level specialty clusters. There are six school-level industrial colleges, 35 on-campus practical training bases, and 163 on-campus training and practicing laboratories in such fields as numerical control, automated systems, and embedded systems. Additionally, there are 185 off-campus training and internship bases.
The college has actively promoted the construction of Jiangsu Modern Vocational Education System and the integrated training projects. It has conducted joint training programs integrating higher vocational education and undergraduate education with institutions such as Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Jiangsu University of Technology. The college has also led several key secondary vocational schools in segmented training programs with the integration of secondary and higher vocational education.
Over the past five years, students have won 58 awards in vocational college skills competitions and college student art exhibitions, including 2 gold medals in the World Vocational College Skills Competition, 1 first prize in the National Vocational Skills Competition, 4 first prizes in the Jiangsu Vocational Skills Competition, 1 silver award and 4 bronze awards in the Jiangsu Trials of the "Challenge Cup." 2 teams have been honored with the title of Outstanding Summer Social Practice Team for "Promoting Mandarin" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Education. The employment rate of graduates has consistently remained above 92%, with an average professional-matching employment rate of 76.81%.
The college adheres to organized scientific research and has been approved to build such provincial-level platforms as Jiangsu Provincial Key Research Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Universities and Colleges, Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Research Center, Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Technology Development Center for Higher Vocational Colleges and Jiangsu Provincial Collaborative Innovation Consortium for Higher Vocational Education Research. It has taken the lead in constructing more than 10 municipal-level platforms, such as Zhenjiang Yangtze River and Grand Canal Culture Research Center, Zhenjiang Tourism Association, Zhenjiang Economic Development Research Center, and Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Research Center.
Over the past five years, the college has undertaken 117 scientific research programs at the provincial and ministerial levels and above. 168 horizontal research programs have been approved and 315 patents authorized to Zhenjiang College with 32 items being transferred, which has generated an economic benefit of approximately 60 million Yuan. The Journal of Zhenjiang College has been rated as an excellent social science journal in national institutions of higher education, an excellent scientific and technological journal in China’s institutions of higher education, and a core journal for applied research in China.
The college is committed to enhancing the level of internationalization in its educational offerings. It actively promotes the "vocational education going global" initiative to serve “the Belt and Road Initiative”. It has been approved to construct the projects of "Jingshi Academy" and "Friendship College" under the Ministry of Education's Center for Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchanges as one of the first institutions to be approved for the construction of the Indonesia Vocational Education Standard Upgrade Project (ICVEEP project).
